No, cold rooms and freezer rooms should not be frequently topped up with gas, if your equipment is short on gas there is a possible leak that needs to be repaired and the system must then be vacuumed to remove air and other non condensables before being charged with the correct amount of gas.

Yes, single phase and three phase equipment can be damaged during power outages if the correct steps aren’t taken to prevent damage, such as installing surge protection or phase failures. Damage can even occur on single phase equipment in the event of a lost neutral. Cold star cooling offers cost effective solutions to combat these problems.

Cold Star Cooling is available 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. We also have suppliers available on standby to be able to obtain parts or compressors in the event of an emergency break down on public holidays or weekends.

Ice buildup does not always mean colder temperatures often ice forms when air leaks into a room, this is a sign of bad insulation which could lead to more strain on the equipment trying to bring the temperature down. If ice is building up on an evaporator (Blower coil) this can mean, there is a defrost or fan problem. In the event of ice buildup in a cold or freezer room it is always best to have a technician come have a look and determine the cause.
